8 Amps sounds like the cranking current when the starter is turning over.
0.89A would not start-sounds like the running current for the ignition coil
The batteries are between 7AH-9AH in capacity.
Vibration does damage the batteries and they don't hold their charge although they seem to charge OK. If the kart runs but starts to miss fire after 20 minutes or so of running, then the battery is knackered. The lithium batteries are silly money I found the Varta battery very good about £40-£45. If you are running MSA consult the gold book about the batteries that are legal.
Always regularly charge the batteries but at the end of the day you would be lucky to get more than two years out of a battery.
