Im sure many would disagree but the skill levels needed to succeed on harder, less sticky tyres is considerably higher than racing on sticky tyres that allow much higher cornering speeds.
The www.OEKC.co.uk race series uses Maxxis HG1s. Teams regularly complete 2 races + practices on one set of slicks. Most teams use the Rotax Max. In real terms that is about 500 laps or 10.5 hours of actual track time.
Best lap times are often produced after 300 laps.
Bearing in mind at most sprint events you get less than 50 laps in a days racing, a single set of tyres would last for a complete championship of 10 races. So to be on the safe side each driver could buy 2 sets of tyres to cover extra races, punctures etc etc & still be competitive & save lots of cash too.
The above is just an observation / suggestion / opinion so please keep comments constructive not abusive !
