I could be wrong, but have the new wet tyres not been introduced to make the class faster in the wet? With the ever appealing rotax class still growing, is this not a move to make TKM look more attractive? You could argue that there was no need to change, but look at it from Turney's point of view... He wants his class to be as good as it can, and not lose drivers to 'faster' classes. Whatever the reason, as SAS stated, this is what drivers and teams alike will have to deal with after April, so it will be fair. And is the new compound not blatently softer? That being the case, surely you would expect them to shred on a drying track? I can also see a lot of drivers trying to drive on the new tyres with the same style as the old TKM wets required... Which makes it again MORE obvious that people ruined them!
