When I raced TKM a good few years ago I used solid tube instead of flex but only because I was fed up of the flex wearing out and breaking up.

I didn't even think of it as a tuning aid and don't know wether it gave me anything extra as it never crossed my mind that it would so i never tested it.

I never machined grooves in it or anything like that and never realised it was a specific rule for it to flex as I never read them that closely.

Can anyone explain how a tube as opposed to a flex would increase revs and performance. I am assuming its to do with the absence of ridges with the tube spacer.
