The comer is a sealed engine but you should be able to pick uo some very good engines at a reasonable price as this is the last year they will be the engine used for the MSA British cadet championship.
Engines that sold for Ł5k to Ł10k last year will only fetch a few hundred at the end of the season.
Honda cadets would be a cheaper option but comer grids are bigger at 3S.
Your son will have to be 8 before he can race but check with the club as they may well let him practice there. He can race Bambinos from age 6.
Have a look at the ABKc site at :- http://www.abkc.org.uk/ They have a start karting section that will give you a lot of information.
If he does get the bug you will soon find out what it is like to be poor rather than just not rich! Fantastic sport that will build his confidence and give you both hours of fun and heartaches.
