David.... if you have started driving karts where the hub is 'sliding' SIGNIFICANTLY over the axle once it's been 'clamped' to the axle.... then please warn me so that I may stay as far away from you as possible....
I don't much fancy receiving a flying wheel/hub when it falls OFF!
It shows how poor Scrutineering has become over the years...!
What staggers me is that you are, apparently, supporting the concept that reducing the 'stiffness' of the axle/hub will have a PREDICTABLE effect on 'hopping' when you cannot POSSIBLY know if the axle/hub stiffness was ALREADY too high or too low!
It's like the classic: "are my tyre pressures to high?". Not a soul on the PLANET can answer that WITHOUT knowing the STARTING conditions!
This all started with someone suggesting that circumcising the axle would REDUCE the hopping. Even if we accept that circumcising HAS an effect, we CANNOT know HOW it will affect 'hopping'. It may make it WORSE..... and once he's circumcised it..... how's he going to PUT IT BACK if it DOES make it worse??????
