So I've been away from karting for about a year. Long story short, I had a string of bad luck, wrote off my brand new chassis, lost my love for the sport, so bought my dream car and walked away.
Anyway, now I miss it, haha! But looking back, I got drawn into the expensive and complex world of Rotax. Now coming back, the simplicity of TKM suddenly appeals. When I got everything right with the rotax I was quick, but how often did that happen? To me TKM seems a bit cheaper and a bit simpler to get right technically (please correct me if I am wrong).
So, please can I ask for some general advice.
Firstly, with 50mm axled CIK chassis' coming in last year (or was it 2 years ago), what type of chassis is best to go for? Should I stick with my CRG Dark Knight or sell and buy a TKM chassis?
Secondly, what's engine life like, rebuild cost and how many builds out of a cylinder? How evenly matched are engines and how much do I need to spend to make it fast (Rotax experience coming through yet?)
Thirdly, is it reasonable to get 2 race days out of tyres? (specifically at 3 sisters)
That'll do for now. Thanks in advance for replies.
