Hello,

You are right in saying that more castor makes the kart lift the inside rear wheel more. This is the case because when the kingpin is positioned at an increased angle, steering lock makes the inside front wheel turn down towards the ground and the outer front wheel lift. Along with weight transfer this makes the rear wheel lift and allows the chassis to turn.

More castor would be used in the rain because you need more front grip to allow the kart to turn, and more castor when the amount of rubber on a track increases; this is because the rear wheels stick to the rubber laid down by lots of karts. Therefore to get the kart to turn more effectively and release out of the corner, more castor is required to try and lift the rear wheel.

On the Gillard system, you need to fit the pills with the number facing the back of the kart to increase castor.

Remeber more castor isnt always better, if the rear tyres slide on corner entry or on a greasy track then reduce the castor to gain rear grip.
