The new generation of BT82 engine allows for a clutch to be fitted in just a few minutes giving you the option of DD or external starter. The initial problems with TAGs seem to be history now but they are more complex and the starter, battery, loom etc all come at a cost, financially and in weight. The latter is the biggest factor for the top runners as it removes discretion in restrictors etc. But if your running at club level, small enough as to not worry (for now) about weight then you'll be fine. And don't believe everything you'll read on the performance argument - the dyno does not lie and the differences are that small that at a beginner level you'll have more important things to focus on. As to whether DD makes for a better driver..........we've been on DD from day one and I'm not entirely convinced!
