Thanks for that. Should have mentioned our gearing which was 12/76 (ratio 6.33) which was similar to yours at 13/80 (ratio 6.15).

I've always tried to stay away from chasing the revs but would like to understand how they get them.

My spare engine was on on Saturday and the revs from that were similar. With the same carb and coil used for both. Which tends to bring it down to jetting or gearing I suppose
