I think we've all been there, and yes, they do all do that to an extent. TKM vibrations will undo most things after a fashion.

Personally speaking I would avoid any axle drilling or filing, unless you eventually want to get overtaken by your rear wheel and sprocket with some steel tube attached to it. Worse still, it could injure someone.

Spellfame used to sell bigger than standard collars for TKM 30mm axles, with bigger than standard grubs in them. We had more luck with these.

Use blue loctite, on very clean dry components, assemble in a nice dry warm area, and allow plenty of time for it to set. Good luck.
