I can understand how the situation arose, there's a big difference between a rebuild and tuning an engine, but it was lax of them not to contact you and say "Did you know that etc..."
Also, simply putting a 100cc head on an extreme I would have expected to result in the piston hitting the head, due to the smaller diameter of the squish band.
