"but even though i could have the "faster engine", i wouldn't want to do well, with people saying all the time it is down to my engine."
Well, all I can say is that it is a shame. This forum isn't representative of the whole class of Blues, and there are always a few people who complain about something. Most people are happy with the match between Blue and Green, and I have never heard any other driver complain that they were beaten because 'the other driver is on a Green' and certainly not in the south.
A couple of years ago I was standing at the side of Forest Edge with the father of a quick driver during a mixed practice session. Dad was complaining that Craig Copeland got 'factory' engines and new tyres for practice from Ron Shone, because Craig was leaving his son a long way back, even as he overtook Rotaxes into and out of the bus-stop. He went off to help his son take his kart back to his pit, then came over to help me sort out a handling problem I had mentioned.
He took a look at my kart and told me that he had spotted the problems, one: he knew I had a crap engine and two: my tyres were far too old as you could see the canvas impression in the rubber.
Unfortunately, the kart had just come in from the practice session, where Craig had been driving it, the same practice session in which the Dad was convinced that Craig's engine was "definitely factory" and that he was definitely running on new tyres.
This is why I feel that a good part of these threads are simply 'imagineering'.
But don't take my word for it or this threads, turn up at a meeting in the South. Go in and see the people in the Dentech tent (because they are uninhibited and will give you real information if you think the people under the Tabor awnings will be biased), or see if Dentech can rent you an engine.
