To be honest guys, i have followed these threads with interest, as i was thinking about racing Blue next year, but this has all put me off im afraid to say. Sounds way too complicated for what is supposed to be a simple and cheap class.
Also - want to add something that was said to me earlier in the year when i enquired about competing as a one off at the Grand Finals. I called up Tabor about potentially renting a complete kart for the race at Clay, and the guy i spoke to (although i don't remember his name, so wouldn't want to speculate on who it was) asked me what I weighed in as. When i told him i was 83kg with race kit, he said "Good, you are the right weight for the quicker engine".
I wasn't sure what he meant until now!
Simon S keeps saying that the system works - well as long as there are people unhappy with it, it isn't working. If you think that running one engine with different restrictors won't work (don't see why not as it does in TKM), then you need to start having a heavy and light class, just like Rotax and 177. If your worried about diluting grids, that will be the least of your issues as if you do nothing there may not even be a class. At least with a split weight class, you may get more drivers to come back or come into Blue. Not sure what else you can do. Shame because i really liked the idea of blue and was seriously thinking about investing for next year, but even though i could have the "faster engine", i wouldn't want to do well, with people saying all the time it is down to my engine.
