I have 4 senior motors, all top top motors, but gearing wise I have one that I can put as many teeth on it as I want and the thing won't rev very high at all. However I seem to take teeth off for fun with that motor as it has so much bottom end torque, where as another motor will usually run 1 or 2 teeth more all day long. You have to gear to what works with your equipment, so yes gear for the circuit and then use your own opinion to determine if against the competition you need more or less, at this point ignore the revs. They are only useful to see if things are constant between sessions, i.e. a substantial drop in RPM due to driver error or binding brakes, track conditions etc etc.If I win a race reving at 14400 fine, I won! If I win reving at 17200 fine, I won again... End of the day you do what works best for you to ultimately beat the competition. So again, don't chase revs, chase the competition!
