Tricky questions...
any ideas what is a good all round kart? What make / year etc
Any 1-2 year old kart would be fine.(Good nick) Most will tell you Tony Kart derived kart - but make sure your happy to pay for the extremely expensive spares. Most chassis are similar now on Mojos.
what would a competive outfit cost? Not an easy one to answer. It's likely that you would need kart & engine seperately; or send engine off after you've tested it. *If it needs it*
What should i be looking out for on engines? Service History with Ogden/Paul Carr,HRS (someone well know) and rebuilt very recently. Get the engine number and ask them about it.
what airbox, clutch, carb etc is legal and what should i use? New airbox, metal clutch needed. Carbs are usually standard.
Any idea what masters weight limit is a? is it 177 as they seem to race in the same races? Yes, usually is now. I think it used to be lower.(Dadsons for example) No weight limit on driver.
How many hours between builds? Quite a lot!
How long do the new tyres last? Front running 1 weekend, mid pack 2 weekends - this also depends on track as some are kind, and some are aggressive.
Hope this helps a bit....just my opinion.
