Hi

I have run a tkm extreme for the last 18 months or so to practice which has been a great start introduction into karting.
I am now thinking about some occasional races of some sort ( sprints and or endurance) the main issue is that I am 94kg ( could loose a few kg but not many!!! Down to about 90kg) so therefore TKM is really not a flyer as I will struggle to be competitive…

The thing I really like the simplicity of the TKM which I am now getting/got my
head around!!! Most of the time as…(I have done all of the maintenance so far)

So the question is which kart do I move to, I think the answer is Rotax? Or am I missing a trick, I could race in non MSA with my TKM but then I am against Rotax etc

Others that crossed my mind KF2 ( maybe cheaper to buy and no engine seals? But harder to find race events, 125 gearbox ( even more complicated), or some form of 4 stroke???
I am based in the Midlands and mainly use Rednal ( closest, cheap and better suited availability) but also Whilton and Shennington/ Rissington occasionally

The issue I have with the rotax etc is the sheer extra complexity and set up variations that the kart can have compared to the TKM

Carb jet size depending on temperature
Power valve spring?
Spark plug ?
Camber
Caster
Torsion bars

And I am sure I have missed a few bits out…

I know that I should be on the pace in a rotax as I have had a day out at PFI on
a GOOD rotax and got close to the ARKS times and that was before I bought the TKM when I think I have improved in pace and consistency, though racing at MSA
circuits is not my main driver ( engine seals aside etc)

So am I right or are there other options out there? Thanks for all of your help

Alex
