There really is very little in it apart from fashion. Old TKM specific stuff still regularly runs right at the front in jTKM S1, and seniors at Shenny was also regularly won on older 30mm stuff last year.

We have tested 30mm and 50mm against each other and found little or no difference in lap time. The 50mm chassis was brand new and was a bit easier to drive consistently.

Unless you are looking for the very last fraction of a tenth put your money to better use. 2009 TKM specific chassis can be picked up for peanuts.
