Some engines like to run faster some less, ours only revs to about 11000rpm and will not rev higher, and is "competitive" (not the best but average in a clubbie pack")
However i race with people who have to run too 13,000 to get much performance. It doesn't mean then have a worse or better engine as such just different.

If you are just starting then go for the mid ground around 12000rpm.
