I think you will struggle to get a blunt answer to this question so I will give it a go.
For something reasonable but a couple of years old, I would say around Ł1600. For something top of the range with a proven engine, and having just done a few meetings probably around Ł2500.
There are so many variables that you have to judge each kart that you find individually. You may find it easier to buy the chassis and engine separately so that you can get a package that you are happy with.
