40 microns difference between the largest and smallest piston = 0.00157 inch if you could get hold of decent digital micrometer that would be ok to measure your piston. You MUST re hone the barrel every time the piston is changed to restore the cross hatch pattern and remove the oil glaze in the bore to allow the piston rings to work correctly. You would also need to measure the cylinder correctly which will be a bit more challenging if you do not have the correct measuring equipment to do so because you need to get the right piston to bore fit. Give anyone of the engine tuners a ring they could do this for you at not very much cost and you have the peace of mind knowing it has been done correctly.
