If you use the Tillet Rib Cage, then you'll be completely secured in the seat as it wraps around the front of your body. Its more effective than any waistcoat rib protector as the majority of rib injuries occur when you momentarily 'come out' of the seat so to speak and your ribs make contact with the edge of the seat while you're out or on the way back. The Rib Cage prevents that from happening. Link below.

I would also recommend you wear a hard rather than soft waistcoat protector as well for a belt and braces solution.
