Absolutely. I'm always amused by the idea that an engine works best just before it lets go. In my experience of engine testing they work best as soon as they're run in, and if they don't, you need to have another look at your running in procedure to make sure the ring(s) bed in. Running them until they actually fail is ALWAYS an unnecessary and expensive mistake.

Has anyone ever dyno tested a TKM just before a rebuild to see if there's more power with carbon build-up in the head?
