Just been hauling through a load of old F3 data, and forget percentages, the slip they allow before taking action on those is miniscule. The best driver I can find on the limit is getting 4 kmh of slip before modulating the brake pressure, while his road speed drops from about 200 to 135 kmh. He's modulating it at about 3-4 Hz, although the track surface and/or suspension frequency means the wheel speed fluctuates at a slightly higher frequency. He effectively gives 5 shoves on the pedal in this period, and reduces pedal pressure by about 15% each time he gets off it, reapplying pressure slowly from there.
Like most of the quick lads, the driver in question did 5 very successful season's karting before moving on to a very successful race career.
I've got loads of Formula Ford data on another computer. I'm sure I've got some traces with more distinctive wheel speed dips somewhere. If I can dig them out and make them anonymous I'll put them up on Photobucket to show you what I mean.
Then maybe someone can do the same with some kart data.
