Low Volume, High Volume, Magnesium, Plastic, Steel, heavily buttressed, no buttressing, cast, spun alloy......etc.. (i.e. ALL types of wheels) will react DFFERENTLY to OTHER types of wheels!
However, the reasons given why Magnesium and 'low volume' wheels 'do XYZ' usually turns out to be plain WRONG when you look at the physics being claimed for them!
So.... by all means, try different types of wheels as they WILL behave differently..... just choose the wheel from the effects they give you..... How do you know WHICH types of wheels to change, first?...... Choose wheels that are the CHEAPEST to make your first comparisons..... unless you have money to WASTE on fashion-statement wheels.....!
Oh..... and Magnesium wheels often tend to be more brittle than Aluminium Alloy wheels and thus tend to break more easily in 'impacts!
