Traxter with regard to it being unfair. I think it used to be the case and I agree it always was a bit of a lottery in years gone by.

But this year we had timed qualifying, 4 heats and a pre-final to prove your worth (and consistency). The 'best' drivers on the day are not only the quick ones but also the most consistent surely?

There is now room for error. Take my weekend as an example. Even though we ended up affected by the timed qualifying split and despite being one of the 5 quickest in the first session, the track changed considerably for the second so ended up 34th overall and we also DNF'd in one heat due to some over ambitious souls in the first couple of corners. However, we still ended up in the Elite (and not as far down as I'd expected) and we still had a pre-final to try and improve our position.

I honestly think there is now plenty of chance for all drivers to prove themselves and luck isn't such a dominant factor any more. You earn your place in the Elite final (and trust me we've had frustrating years where we haven't got there) and its usually because you missed something on the kart and had a mechanical failiure or you weren't consitent enough so you can't really justify being in the Elite final after that can you?
