Can you gas weld ? If you can the Tig will be a breeze. You can also braze with Tig - it works quite well. You can also weld aluminium with a DC machine but you will need different gas and a fair bit of practice. DC tig is very versatile.

AC Tig is another story - that is the dogs b*ll*cks - but machines are expensive.
