I worked out for 6 months prior to the last season, and it really does work. It removes one of the variables of racing and I was finishing the races feeling fresh and ready for the nexy heat. It also helps focus the mind when re-building and servicing the karts.
Upper body strength is essential along with good cardio. Try using a cheap monitor to check to see how your heat works during practice and race. You will be amazed....
Amother thing to remeber is stretching before racing, especially the arms. Try extending one arm in front of you, palm up, and use the other hand to bend the fingers down and back towards you. This helps prevent cramps in the forarms - especially important with front brake systems and DD2 gears.
Lastly, build up the fluid intake well before the race day using good isotonic drinks. This will also keep energy levels up and prevent dehydration...
Hope this helps.....
