100% agreement from me!

The only thing I'd add is that, if you use the 'fashion' equipment, then you will be using IDENTICAL equipment to everyone else. That means you'll be LESS likely to be TROUNCED by everyone else BUT..... there's VERY little chance that your equipment can BEAT them,..... whatever suits your kart will suit THEIR kart, too. However, if you use aomething UNfashionable, there's a fair chance that circumstrances will conspire to favour YOUR kart and leave ALL the opposition floundering.

I agree with you about spares and service though.... except to say that if you choose an Englih manufacturer (and are in England) you are more likely to be able to get the thing re-jigged than if you are in England and choose and Italian chassis.
