Actually, taking the rule statement literally, the side 'skids' are also ok because they are not attached to the tubing. They are underneath the kart but are secured by two bolts one of which goes through the chassis 'tab' but does not contact the tubing itself.
If I was a scrutineer on Sunday I'd throw a sickie.
