Use only proper pulse pump pipe, it last well and is relatively cheap.

Fuel pipe can go soft and absorbes the energy that should be going to the diaphragm.

Like hydraulic systems, as in brake hoses, a small bore is best to transfer the energy, reducing the level of compression.

The diaphragm moves only a tiny amount and with a nice firm walled pipe, all the energy is transferred and not wasted expanding and contracting the pipe wall.
