TCL..... we understand your question but you are missing something, here.

The choice of sprocket is not a 'science' in the normal sense. Each motor, tyre set-up, weather condition and driver may have need for different spockets. In fact, you'll find that effect THROUGHOUT karting! There are very few 'magic settings' that work on two consecutive 'Sundays' as the conditions control a HELL of a lot!

Taking something simple: if there's a 'tail-wind' down the longest straight, then the choice of sprocket could well be two or even THREE teeth less than if there was a head-wind!

Lap Record times, too, are NOT indicative of what you should be 'targetting'. History often shows the Records are set in September of October. Why...? Because you can easily get days when the TRACK temperature is high from strong sunlight but that the air temp is lower (but air-density is at its highest). This will give a STRONG motor AND fantastic grip. So.... even the QUICKEST lads won't be able to drive lap-record times in Feb and March!

Thus, all that knowing the lap-records will do is DEPRESS you. You won't get near them,..... but neither will anyone ELSE against whom you are racing!

So.... go to the tracks, learn how to select the 'best' sprocket (note, that's not the 'PERFECT sprocket') for that day and driver and learn to compare yourself to similar and/or better drivers who are also practicing. Finally, be CERTAIN that the drivers (and YOUR driver) will go quicker in the ACTUAL race than in practice! Adrenalin is a GREAT performance booster!
