As everyone will tell you, its a matter of testing different jets. We find that a low jet suits our carb and motor. If you could not feel any improvement when you pulled the choke down the straight then maybe you were running to rich?
Next time you are out, fit a low jet and then try the choke, if it picks up then you need a larger jet.
