Ride height does make a difference put both spacers on the bottom and the washer on the top. We had the S8 in Junior TKM 4S, old tyres though. Put the rear on its lowest setting as well , axle in the heightst position for the bolts.
40mm should be fine unless a very hot sticky track , just need to go as wide as allowable in grippy conditions , and fit a soft axle.
If you go to 50mm you need a new brake which will cost a fortune.
