I check them every meeting as part of our complete kart rebuild.

The new block appears to keep the reeds sealing better and are less prone to the corners chipping and flakeing.

The old blocks had bits of aluminium swarfe embedded in the rubber, the new ones are much cleaner.

You do want a nice quick shut on the reeds to prevent the engine pushing charge out of the carb again on the down stroke.

You can see this happening with the air box off.
