I think I'd prefer to try red or green pads.

They definitely need more effort to give the same braking effect.

Cutting bits out of the pad is venturing into an unknown and untested area.

It could destabilise the pad and result in overheating or the friction material detaching from the backing plate.

The worst case scenario could be a fatal accident that you would be held responsible for.

I've no objection to you testing it alone but not with others around.

Am I being silly and overcautious there?
