Hand it directly to a scrutineer at your next MSA meet for confirmation of it's legality, then you can at least use it in the knowledge that it's been checked over correctly...

I often do that with say....a newly aquired carb even though I have stripped, measured and checked etc.

Ignorance is no defence I'm afraid.
