It's not quite that simple.....It's a reproduction of the TV programme only.
To do a TV edit and then a DVD of twice the content of the original programme is simply not practical. Twice the filming, twice the graphics, twice the race content, twice the commentary...taking twice the time... all at the same cost?
We do not film the first finals to make sure everything is working. As I explained in an earlier posting, filming in HD to a card based system will be around 1hr 20 mins of time perhaps for 4 races, and each card at over £500 each will only film 100 mins at 35Mbs 1920x1080HD max. We are experienced enough to be confident we know what we are doing, and only film what we have to. The card based system will save hours of additional ingesting into the computer, and enable us to delete all but the funniest outtakes as we go. But it will still be around 6 hours of HD footage. That takes massive computer processing, hence why we are having to invest over £10,000 in the edit system alone.
