its the pressure drop in the venturi, as the air speeds up , any moisture in the air going through the venturi freezes causing carb ice, i've had to take carb off and thaw it out on the exhaust before now. At least it doesn't kill you where as it can in an aircraft when they have carb ice......tends to stop the engine, hope this helps, i dont know of any cure apart from redirecting warm air into the carb, but i'm sure thats not in the regs.
