Yes there is a rubber/foam pad supplied with the official battery holder, just as the previously mentioned Strawberry seat mount has rubber inserts to protect the battery.
The problem with the direct chassis mount, even when using the official padding the battery failure rate appears to increace dramatically, therefore the pad must be inadequate. And yes you guessed it, if you race in Europe you even have to have the original pad in an unmodified carrier!!
Lets hope this plainly stupid rule does not filter into the MSA regs or else we will be needing as many new batteries as tyres! oops I hope JAG are not reading this.......!
