So tell me what's the difference between an engine mount clamp and a chassis protector from a safety perspective ? They're both positioned below the chassis rail and though engine mount clamps have been flying off karts for decades [and hitting people, me included], nobody has ever raised them as a safety issue... in fact I don't recall a single attempt made to make them safer borne out by the fact that I've a 30 year old engine mount clamp which is practically identical to one I bought this year !

I'm not saying that the chassis protectors can't be made safer, I'm sure they can. As can engine mount clamps. Surely that's the challenge for the governing body and the industry... and not an outright ban which is easy/lazy way out really isn't it.
