Well said Symon - we were thinking along very similar lines on Sunday evening. I was initially a bit miffed that the London Cup will coincide with the last round of Super1 but after last weekend at Rye I am frankly quite glad. The 3rd, 4th & 5th drivers in Senior Max did not turn up to receive their trophies. There may be trouble ahead........
The Unilogger appears to have 2 benefits: firstly it detects 'malfunctions' in clutches and (as far as I am aware) there is no appeal. Secondly, it therefore allows the scutineers to concentrate on other areas, for example tyres, exhausts and fuel.
You could, of course, say "grease as much as you like" but I feel this is the wrong approach for two reasons: 1) It is not in the spirit of the sport 2) This would then have to apply to all incidences of divergence from the rules so:
"treat your tyres as much as you like" or "add what you like to your fuel"
Symon is right - the only protection for the individual competitor at present is the Unilogger and parc ferme rules. Failing this, the only other real protection is non-participation.
