Dave,
probably your best bet would be to locate some local clubs and go down there to 'see what the crack is'.
Depending on your budget, there are local clubs at East Kirkby, Strubby and Tattershall or for the larger grids, Fulbeck and PFI, all of these are in or around Lincs areas.
One class that might suit you is the Rotax Max 177 which is for the 'heavier' driver but it is a highly competitive class.
