when you look at the springs you will see that one side is longer than the other. now just to get a reference point - hold one of the clutch shoes in your hand. the longer side of the spring hooks into this part at the point that is furthest away from the clutch pin.
now with all the clutch shoes in place (and secured by the thrust washers and circlips) hook the long end of the spring into the shoe as above. i then use a narrow crosshair screwdriver or a sharp punch which i feed under the other end of the spring and then place in the hole that you are trying to get the spring into. you can then maneuver the spring into the hole. it probably wont go all the way in at this stage so it's best to give the spring a tap to make sure that it goes all the way in.

hope this helps. it can be a bit fiddly and take a few attempts but this is how i used to do it before getting the new clutch (which keeps breaking!! lol)
