Well the 2009 Gillard 010B has also been designed for Rotax Max here and that's an excellent kart too.

Bottom line is, if he's starting out it doesn't matter that much what chassis he buys. For the most part he'll be learning and understanding how to drive and race and any of those mentioned above [including the TonyKart family] will do absolutely fine.
