I'd go for a more popular chassis. You want something that at least a few other people at your track race so you can ask for setup advice and scrounge spares if you break something at the circuit.

The JKH and Tony Kart are two of the most popular newer chassis, and the Venom is a popular older chassis.

I got into karting about 6 months ago and went for a JKH TKM. I'm pleased with the kart; its very strong and Spellfame stock the spares (with free postage!).
