I'm no expert but I think it to do with the nickleseal coating on the cylinder bore.

It must difficult to control the coating thickness so they overcome the problem by selective assembly (measure the cylinder bore on the production line an select the correct piston to fitfrom 3different sizes)

I'm being polite realy but the truth is that rotax quality control must be poor!!
