carborundum stone as it's too soft.

They use diamond.

It doesn't give such a nice finish though as it turfs up the surface with little tears and really needs a kinder initial run in IMHO but at that sort of level it is down to the microscope level before you get too excited.

Without the hone there is little oil retention.

Is Teflon absorbent in any way, never though about its properties regarding oil?
