I emailed Tal Ko about a year ago asking about running a 100cc engine in Extreme (as I had a 10 year old BT82 that had been rebuilt but never run in) and they said I could but it wouldn't be competitive. Maybe that could be an advantage as a novice though, as it will arguably make your learning curve with cornering and brake etc steeper in order to try and keep up. Less grunt to mask your poor techniques etc I guess.
Anyway, I'm looking in to getting hold of a usable but by no means posh kart to try some non MSA meetings (I believe Hooton do evening and Whilton Mill some weekend 'run anything' type events).
With the price you can pick up a direct drive 100cc pre-pod-change TKM kart for, the appeal to people wanting a taster of the excitement from 2/ racing should be huge. Just from talking to friends who haven't raced 2/ they are seriously keen to join me if I can help them find a budget non-MSA kart.
Bring back the huge TKM grids of old I say, even if it does mean running 'out dated' kit, grass-roots 2/ couldn't wish for a better way to encourage more people to get in to the sport.
