They are just held together by spring pressure,our's have a bit of thin bowden cable looped through the exhaust and manifold spring mounting holes and the loose ends held by a double screw cable clamp,the type you get on some accelerator pedal free ends where no nipple is present.

JM recommend a face fit and only if necc; use sealant.
